Stormers vs Cheetahs

We are all looking forward to the 2012 Super 15 and things are looking promising for the Stormers. The Stormers ended their 3 games warm up with a lost against the Cheetahs. But then one must remember that this 22-14 loss was a show of depth. We played a full strength Cheetah team with our second and third choice players. Impressive is all I can say.
The day started of with the DHL girls and again the thought struck me "Thank God I do not have daughters". Seeing your daughter on the field playing rugby would be easier to swallow than your daughter dancing seductively on the fields while guys and kids stand staring with eyes popping out. For any dad that would be enough motivation to start a embroidery group for men and never watch rugby again.

The girls tried to be more acrobatic but this was definitely not their prime ability. The girls ended their routine with ripping of their little skirts to the great applause of many men. This was greeted by quiet staring from many women.

There was one girl who kept on dancing and she was greeted with friendly looks from her companions.

Then the game started! Nazeem Carr did a lot of running, but not a lot of passing.

Demetri Catrakilis did everything that was needed and his kicking was sufficient but still lacked that special spark. While Gerhard van den Heever was choked every time he touched the ball.

Schalk Burger is getting older and balder but definitely not softer. As usual he led from the front, made many tackles carried balls and played an imposing game.

Heinrich Brüssow is back at his best but while Siya Kolisi was on the field he did not have everything his own way. His frustration boiled over a few time in little skirmishes.

Eben Etzebeth was impressive and while he was on the field the Cheetahs had their hands full. This young man definitely has a wonderful future ahead of him.

All in all it was a slow game where the Cheetah A team could only just managed to beat the Stormer backup players.
And then to close: How close must a ref be to miss the fight?
